Trigger point needling
In our practice we perform trigger and motor points needling as part of our acupuncture practice. We not only treat the areas of trigger and motor points but also associated points and meridians.
What is Trigger point (Tr.p.)?
Tr.p. is a hyperirritable portion of skeletal muscle that are associated with eather palpable nodules ans/or taught bands of muscle and fascia. These nodules, when compressed, produce pain referral in specific areaa of the body that is reproducible and predictable. They can be found in tendons, ligamrnts, fascia, joint capsule and even periostenum.
How can the Tr.p. be treated?
One of the best way to treat Tr.p. is acupuncture method called »dry needling«. When needled, the Tr.p. will either produce fasciculation/twich of the muscle or a production of sensation often described as a dull, preassure sensation.
What is Motor point (MP)?
Motor point is found in the central aspect of the muscle where the motor nerve enters the muscle and has the greatest influence on electrical activity and the greatest impact on pain. Treatment of MP strenghtened affected muscle and increase range of motion.
